Deep down, buried in our most instinctive inner self, we do not think, we feel. We are made of emotions. For centuries, we have tried to keep a tight rein over them and keep them in control through orderly or overtly repressive ways of life. The only options we had were to rebel or to give in. Nowadays we live in a world which overwhelms us with temptations and decisions, and the choice is ours, in solitude and with no clear references, to find out who we are and what makes life meaningful for each one of us. This new freedom needs a compass to help us navigate with emotional intelligence through the unpredictable paths of our lives.
This book examines the various stages of emotional and social maturity of human beings, not only as individuals, but also as we relate to the people who surround us: parents, children, partners, friends… In the threshold of the XXIst century, owing to the extraordinary progress of neuroscience, emotions can now be examined, understood and even dealt with: they are the key to our neuralgic center, whether we call it brain, soul, conscience or free will. To know oneself allows us to discover the roots of our happiness, our anger and our pain, to help us live in harmony and plenitude with ourselves and with others. read more...

Welcome to my website, elsapunset.com.
This web is a meeting point for the readers of my new book, published by Aguilar in March 2008. Anyone interested in social and emocional learning is also welcome here: please feel free to write and contribute with your comments and ideas on how to enrich this space (you can reach me through the contact boxes which figure at the end of every page.)
The Agenda Section
...is an open platform where you can post and exchange information about events related to psychology and emotional and social skills. Send your events through this page, and I will add them to the Agenda for everyone to enjoy.
The Blog-Mag
...is an open window though which you can catch a glimpse of some of what´s happening in the social and emotional field all over the world.
In the Tools section
...I will add suggestions that might improve your emotional wellbeing and they way in which you handle conflict resolution. I´ve started off with reflective listening, because it seems so relevant to the way in which we relate to others. There are many ways of relating, but not all are desirable; some only seem to make people uneasy, regardless of our intentions. Reflective listening is a simple tool which helps communicate respect to the person we are speaking to, and creates a climate of respect which helps towards conflict resolution. I would appreciate if you suggest which areas you are most interested in concerning the choice of tools, and whether you find them useful.
This web will also suggest links and articles of a more ecclectic nature- science, music, philosophy, education, social work... fields that might contribute towards personal growth in a general manner, and which are part of emotional and social learning- of life itself!- in the largest sense.
